Paws 4 a Cause: Two New Ways To Support P4aC

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick update to let you know there are now two other ways you can support our cause. Of course, we have our donation button on our side bar, our Cafe Press store and our tier based monthly donations.

We have two new supporters, who happen to be good friends of ours. They supported the 2010 Ian Bday Project and this time around, they are getting involved in the fundraising.

A Simple Act

Stephanie is a 16 year old girl from Miami, Florida. She has posted a video some time ago in hopes of gaining Ian’s attention and an interview with him. When Ian went to Miami in Fall 2010, Stephanie got her wish. Stephanie, along with her sister Theressa, put together a great interview focusing on Ian’s passion to save the environment (Stephanie is president of her environment club in school), his foundation as well as a blurb about St Tammany Humane Society.

The videos generated interest around the Vampire Diaries fandom and also brought forth more awareness of just how much Ian cares about planet and how he hopes to bring all of us together to work on saving it.

Stephanie and Theressa really wanted to get involved in our fundraising efforts and they offered their Twilight franchise based support bracelets. Many Vampire Diaries fans are also Twilight fans and in celebration of the release of Eclipse, you can now get a Team Edward, Team Jacob or a “I Run With Werewolves” bracelet (Werewolves = Tyler Lockwood).

To purchase a bracelet (with proceeds going directly to us) please visit the A Simple Act Store.

TVD Crafts For Charity

Jenny has a passion for crafts and also for The Vampire Diaries. But she also has a big heart. She truly believes in helping various causes and she does it with love and care put into great crafts she makes.

She has raised money for National Wildlife Fund, Ian Bday Project 2010, Cancer Research and Ian’s Foundation so far.

She has made a special bookmark for Paws 4 a Cause and all proceeds are going directly to us. So far, she has raised just about $30 and she would like to raise more.

So head over to her site TVD Crafts For Charity and purchase a goodie to help a great cause!

Ian Somerhalder: Good Guy Playing a Bad Boy on TV

There are two kinds of celebrities; the ones who use their fame to get ten plastic surgeries for themselves and the ones who use their fame to make a difference. Ian Somerhalder who plays the complicated and brooding vampire Damon Salvatore on “The Vampire Diaries” is the latter. He could be using his growing stardom and his many legions of fans, many who happen to be women, to his personal advantage.

Instead he is asking his fans to help him get the word out about a foundation he created to aid animals and the environment. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation is officially launching for his birthday on December 8th, as he recently mentioned backstage at Jay Leno.

Paws 4 a Cause: Contest Time

I’ve decided to hold a mini contest this weekend to try to boost donations a bit. Here’s what you could win (Retail value of $16.19 USD):

| Click To View Shop Item |

So here’s what you gotta do (it’s really easy!):

  • 1. Make a donation of $10 or more between right now and Sunday December 5th, 5pm (eastern standard time) December 31st, 2010 and you get entered into the contest!

That’s it! See how easy that was? So you see the donation button to the far right of the site? You click that to make your donation! The tier based monthly donations don’t count and your donation has to happen between now and Sunday.

Good luck!

Paws 4 a Cause: Updates & Shelter Information

Now that I’m feeling better, I figured I’d post an update on where we stand financially as well as give you some information about the St Tammany Humane Society and why it is important to support this cause.

We have seen much success thus far for the fundraising efforts. Here is a breakdown so far:

  • 1. Cafe Press Store: Profits are currently sitting at: $57.20
  • 2. Tier Based Monthly Donations: Current Total: $410. Anticipated Total: $4100
  • 3. Regular Donations: $20
  • 4. TVD Crafts 4 Charity: $15.09

So we are sitting at nearly $4200 so far. Thank you SO MUCH everyone! Don’t let it stop here! Make sure you sign up for Tier Based Monthly Donations or shop in our store for the holidays!

Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking with St Tammany Humane Society’s director, Vaughn Maurice. It was the first phone conversation we had since I began the Birthday Project in September and let me tell you, this man has a huge heart.

During our conversation, Vaughn gave me a broader perspective on the shelter and what role it does play nationally and even internationally. Here are some facts about St Tammany Humane Society and why it is so important to help them.

  • 1. Louisiana and Mississippi (Gulf Coast) has the biggest problem of pet overpopulation in the United States.
  • 2. STHS has a partnership with several shelters around the US.
  • 3. When pets from STHS are adopted and space is cleared up, shelter staff go to shelters that have animals on “death row” and rescue them so they have a chance to survive and find a home.
  • 4. STHS sends pets all over the United States and the world (Spain, Costa Rica) to find new homes
  • 5. STHS not only helps domestic animals but they also assisted in rescuing animals who were affected by the BP Gulf Oil Spill in spring/summer 2010.
  • 6. The shelter relies solely on donations from the general public and does not receive government funding.
  • 7. It costs $2000 to shuttle 20 animals to various parts of the US to bring them to new homes. The funds we raised for the 2010 Ian S Bday Project ($11,260) saved aproximately 100 animals’ lives.

Those are only some of the reasons why it is important to help St Tammany Humane Society. As you can see, this shelter desperately needs our help to give these animals homes, and also maintain their facilities. They are also willing to make arrangements to send a pet to you regardless of where you live in the world.

My birthday is this Saturday, December 4th and Ian Somerhalder’s birthday is December 8th. The best gift you can give both of us is to help us save the lives of these animals and help raise awareness and educate others about the benefits of a no-kill animal shelter. Maybe someday we will see the end of shelters having to result to euthanization and see all animals find happy homes, and also control pet population.

Please consider a small donation by using our sidebar button to make a one time donation, or use our other methods to commit to monthly donations or shop in our store. Let’s save the lives of animals, together.

Keeping the Paws-4-a-Cause donation tally ticking over!

Hi Guys

Natalie has asked me to drop you all a line so this is my first ever post on P4AC so I’ll try and make it a good one.

As as you probably all know by now, Natalie has been quite ill of late and is still getting some much needed rest.  While she’s taking some downtime to recover I thought I would enlist the assistance of the fantastic TVD Fandom and have you help me to keep the donation tally ticking over.   There are three simple ways you can help, check it out below:

  • Lock in your tier donation – remember as little as $5-$10 a month can make a world of difference.  Visit the Tier Donation Page to see the different subscriptions available.
  • Visit the Cafe Store – buy a special Christmas gift to put under the Christmas tree and support Paws 4 A Cause at the same time; or
  • Simply spread the word on your social networks, to family and friends letting them know we’re here.  Encourage them to visit our website or direct them straight to our Cafe Store where there’s bound to be something for everyone.

Thank you in advance for chipping in and helping me to keep the fundraising flame burning while Natalie recovers, I wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to her being back on board soon.

Thanks again for your support you all rock!

Cheers!
Tracey

Paws 4 a Cause: Introducing Tier Based Monthly Donations

After carefully considering the pros & cons, I have decided to launch a tier based monthly donations program. I am looking for 100 people to commit to various tier based monthly donations based on what they can afford. Monthly donations would run for 10 months and range between $5 and $100 per month.

You can read all the details on this page: Tier Based Monthly Donations.

Since announcing the program on twitter, we’ve had a great response and 8 people have dedicated themselves to the monthly donations. Will you be one of the remaining 92 open spots? Hurry up before they are all taken!
