Shelter Info
Here some point form facts about the St Tammany Humane Society:
- Founded in 1953
- Does not receive government funding
- Relies solely on donations from the public to fund their organization
- Largest no kill shelter in Louisiana state
- Louisiana and Mississippi state suffer from one of the largest pet overpopulation in the US
- The shelter also provides animal rescue during disastors such as BP Oil Spill
- Once space is freed up at the shelter after a pet is adopted, they will go to shelters to rescue animals on “death row” in hopes of finding them a new home.
Their Mission: To save the life of every adoptable animal in our community through education,
adoption and spay/neuter programs.
Their Vision: To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation.
